Ricky Wolff

Ricky joined HCSA as it’s first full time Director of Coaching, in Spring 2003, with extensive coaching and playing experience. Prior to taking the DOC position, he coached elite teams at Stone Mountain Storm, Georgia FC (formerly Brookwood Steamers), Norcross Soccer Association, Gwinnett Soccer Association, Mountain Park Soccer Association, and Snellville Parks and Recs.

At these clubs, over a ten year period, he coached 7-GYSA Open Cup Championship teams, 6-GYSA Open Cup Finalists, and 9-GYSA Open Cup Semifinalists. In 1996, the 83 Stone Mountain SC Storm won the USYSA Region III Bronze Medal, finished 3rd. In 1998, the 85 Stone Mountain Storm won the USYSA Region III Silver Medal, finalists. In 2000, the 85 Stone Mountain Storm won the Super Club Regional Championship and, in 2001, they won the Super Club National Championship.

Other coaching honors: In 1998, the 83 Stone Mountain Storm won the Tampa Sunbowl Championship and the 84 Stone Mountain Storm were Tampa Sunbowl finalists. The two games were played back to back at the same soccer complex at the same time and the benches were in the middle of the two fields. In 1999, the 85 Stone Mountain Storm lost in the Dallas Cup Quarterfinals to eventual Champions, Santos FC of Brazil. Pele was at the Dallas Cup supporting his childhood club, Santos FC, and bringing attention to the Dallas Cup as the pre-eminent international tournament in the USA. In 1999, the 84 Stone Mountain Storm were finalists at the Tampa Sunbowl for a 2nd year. After passing the 84 Stone Mountain Storm team to his mentor, the 84 Stone Mountain Storm won the USYSA Region III Gold Medal, Champions, and at the USYSA Nationals they finished 2nd in the country to Team Dayton (OH-S).

Ricky holds a USSF National "B" License, GYSA Coaching School Instructor since 2001. Georgia Olympic Development Program Staff Coach 1996 to 2003.

Noteable players that Ricky has coached are: Josh Wolff (77 Steamers), his brother, a 10+ year veteran of MLS, U18 World University Games, U20 World Cup, 2000 Sydney Olympics, 2002 World Cup, and 2006 World Cup; Justin Moore (83 Storm) FC Dallas, U16 National Team, U20 National Pool. Lawson Vaughn (84 Storm) currently playing for DC United, Chivas USA prior to that; Blake Camp (84 Storm) New York Red Bulls. Michael Krauth (84 Storm) Under 14 National Team. As well, he has coached numerous club players that have played on the Georgia State ODP Teams, USYSA Region III Pool, and USYSA Region III Teams.

Wolff started playing soccer at AYSO in Florida and his mother, Sandy, was his first coach. When his father, John, got transfered to Atlanta with Bellsouth in 1987, he joined the Brookwood Steamers Soccer Club (current Georgia FC). He played three years for Brookwood Steamers and graduated from Parkview High School in 1990. He was voted the Most Valuable Offensive Player of his team 3 times (’87, ’88, & ’90), All-County 1st Team selection 3 times (’87, ’88, & ’90), All-State 1st Team selection 2 times (’88 & ’90). After graduating from Parkview, he got a full soccer scholarship to Georgia State University. He was voted twice to the All-Conference Team in ’90 and ’91 and his team voted him the Most Valuable Offensive Player in ’90 & ’91. After playing two years of college, he played semi-professional soccer with the Georgia Steamers and Atlanta Quicksilver. In 1993, Wolff hung up his cleats and focused totally on his coaching career.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History with a minor in Political Science and Spanish at Georgia State University.

Ricky is a native of West Palm Beach, FL and current lives in Monroe, GA. Ricky and his wife, Dawn were married July 2, 2001. They live with their daughter Olivia Grace and son Jordan Edward.
