Most of the work to operate the club is performed by volunteers including Board members, coaches and team managers. We are very pleased to report that we are continuing to promote the world’s game with a variety of programs for our membership.

Mission Statement

To promote the growth of the sport of soccer within our community. Focusing on teamwork, fun, sportsmanship, fair play, and respect for others and the Laws of Soccer. To provide a healthy, safe, and enriching environment for the youth of Henry County and surrounding area in a family oriented setting.

Club Overview

The Henry County Soccer Association, (HCSA), was established in August of 1989 by Gerald and Betsy Schroeter. The Association began play with 238 children, playing on one privately owned field in Stockbridge donated by Vulcan Materials.

By 1994, the HCSA had doubled in size. Meanwhile the fields provided by Vulcan Materials had been outgrown and the HCSA partnered with Henry County Parks and Recreation. In 1999 HCSA and Henry County Parks and Recreation opened a new 10-acre facility located on Henry Parkway in McDonough near I-75 in the middle of the county. A $50,000 grant from the United States Soccer Association was received, and was significant in helping to light the fields in 2000.

By 2000, the HCSA had grown to 1500 players ranging in age from 4-18 years old. For the Spring 2003 season there were 137 teams registered in age groups U-5 through U-16. There are Coed teams in U-5 through U-16 and all girls teams in U-7 through U-14.

The Henry County Soccer Association is very proud to also be the home of several strong and growing Select teams at the Classic and Athena levels. The Select portion of the organization provides players the opportunity to play on teams that travel and visit other facilities and engage in tournaments across Georgia.

In 2002, HCSA had it’s first Men’s league for adults ages 18 and up. There were 8 teams formed in the initial season and we look forward to this segment of our organization growing quickly in the future.

In Spring 2003, the future looks bright for Henry County Soccer as we hired our first full time Director of Coaching, Mr. Ricky Wolff in February. Ricky brings a tremendous amount of experience to the organization as a player and a coach, holding a United States Soccer Federation level “B” national coaching license.

In Fall 2003, we joined the state Academy Program. We call it our Academy of Excellence Program (AOE) and it is for boys and girls U9 thru U12. We introduced the Player Development Program (PDP) and with that we introduced Friday Night PDP Clinics to the Recreational Program for U5 / U6, U7/U8, U9/U10, U12 & Up, and Goalkeeping. Also, we introduced Coordination, Agility, Speed/Strength, Edurance (CASE) training and Mommertz Method Training to the AOE and Select Programs. We introduced in-house 3v3 tournaments to Recreational, Academy of Excellence, and Select Programs.

In Spring 2004, we introduced the Academy of Excellence (AOE) Program for Under 6 players and 20 players participate. In Spring 2005, we had 30 players participated. In Fall 2005, we expanded the program to include U7 players and 40 players participated. For Spring 2006, we had expanded the program by forming a league inside the Recreational Program for the U7 / U8 AOE and had 60 participate. For Fall 2006, we had 80 participate.

In Spring 2005, we opened the new Mount Carmel Soccer Complex that was built in co-operation with the Henry County Parks and Recreation Department. The new complex includes 4 new large fields as well as building facilities.
