Playing in their first tournament for the 2010 season, the U10 Girls Thunder team, coached by Fabian Patterson, won the annual Girls Rock Soccer Cup playing January 23-24 in Savannah, GA.   Starting on Saturday morning, the Thunder defeated the 99 Shockers from Savannah 6-0 and then finished the day with a 2-2 tie against the CUFC Soccer Club from Charlotte, NC.   Needing a win on Sunday morning to advance to the Championship match, Thunder defeated the Chatham Soccer Club 7-1.   The final championship game on Sunday afternoon put the Thunder against the undefeated Fury Soccer Club from Jacksonville, FL.   The girls came out very aggressive wanting to bring the cup to McDonough as Thunder went up 2-0 in the first five minutes of the match.   Playing great defense and controlling ball position throughout the game, Thunder defeated the Fury 5-2.
